Dear James, Daniel and Emily,
We did it, more or less, we defied the weather gods attempts to ruin the weekend. We managed to survive a wet, cold soccer game, make a quick trip to Bargain Comics and got in a decent little hike. We also got the house picked up, got in some shopping, and enjoyed a couple of movies. And I watched some NBA basketball, much to my chagrin.
James' soccer game went quite well, the team played with a lot of hustle. James got pretty cold initially, but he played well, including a quarter as keeper. Daniel had his last swim lesson for a while. He really enjoys the swim lessons, and he is making progress, but he wants to play baseball and we can't do both. This works out for me because it gives me a break for the next 2 weeks.
We made a brief visit to Bargain comics for free comic book day. Got to see some members of the 501st Legion, Rocky Mountain Garrison. Picked up some comic books. Would have spent more time down there but the weather kept the time to a minimum.
Sunday we got in a shopping trip (concentrated on necessities and non-perishables in case a strike happens.) Then did some cleaning around the house. Then we went out for a hike. We stopped at the White Acres Open House event, but ended up driving up the Cheyenne Canyon and hiking up Helen Hunt Falls. Which was a short but pretty vigorous little hike. Tomorrow I plan to try and go over to Ute Valley on my lunch break and get in hike there on lunch. We'll see how that goes.
So I watched a little more than a half of the Bulls-Celtics game on Saturday night. And while my attitude might have been a little different if I was a Celtics fan the bottom line is my feeling about the NBA was confirmed. That is it just isn't that fun to watch any more. And certain stars just get to do whatever they want, either they get fouled or get the shot. Which is why I firmly believe that this title is the Cleveland Cavaliers to lose, because at some point LeBron James will start to get every call. It's just such a star driven league now, it's not really pure basketball. College and Olympic basketball are just better games to watch.
