Ups & Downs

Dear James, Daniel and Emily,

So today at lunch I drove to the Ute Valley park to see how the walk was there and how long it would take, was it a feasible lunch plan? And I was quite pleased with the result. I easily made it there and back, maybe 10 minute drive at most. And I was able to complete a circuit in about 30 minutes that had me feeling like I had had a good workout. And it was far nicer than just walking around the block here at work. So I was quite pleased with this and plan to make it a regular every other day activity. Plus the hike is nice enough that we could take the kids on a Sunday and it would be pretty cool for them, lots of rocks to climb on etc. (although apparently it does have some rattle snakes in plenty so would have to be careful with the kids.)

The down of course is the ever increasing likelihood of a strike/lockout. The more I read on it I understand why the union leadership is doing it. They have been offered a bad contract, plain and simple. But that support won't pay the bills. So I have to continue to hope for an agreement, and if not, that at least the disagreement is short. Who knows, we are as ready as we can be I guess so it is just a matter of waiting.

I know the Celtics and Lakers lost last night, which kind of evens things out. And I had to exercise some serious control to not watch the Laker game last night. But I still think I am winning the battle against the addiction and emotional turmoil. I have been able to read about it today and not get bent out of shape. I don't think I could watch a Laker game with the same control though, so I will keep that at arms length for now.
