More business tips from Mark Cuban

Although I don't have an entrepreneurial bone in my body these are very interesting. I would pass them along to anyone who is in the position of running their own business or thinking about doing so. Although I would like to expand the readership of my blog so it can generate a little income. But I am not exactly killing myself to try and do that.

Another argument for paying college athletes

I have always thought they should get paid. I understand the argument that they are getting paid by receiving scholarships and room & board. But Deford sums up the counter to that here:

Nobody cares if college kids who are actors or musicians or writers or dancers can make a buck using their talent. Why is an athlete any different?

And I think that is the point that everyone seems to miss when they point out the compensation the athletes already get. If I am going to a school on an academic scholarship, there is no rule whatsoever against my generating income, and if the school can get some of that income well more power to them. But apparently the same does not apply to athletics. And if there was some compensation, regulated and equal, then it might result in fewer kids using schools as a springboard in their dreams of going pro. Obviously the biggest question would be how to make certain everyone gets paid the same so some schools don't pay more and therefore gain a competitive advantage.
