Just a relaxing day, until the end...

Dear James, Daniel and Emily,

So we had some relaxation time yesterday. hung out at the house all morning, went and had lunch with Kim, stopped at Ace to pick up some fleckstone that I am planning on using on the electrical face plates in the kitchen. Then it was home for Emily to nap and for me and the boys to do some bike riding. Then off to the library for the science demonstration/Star Wars demo. Then home, where the boys watched some movies while I picked up. Overall a pretty relaxing day, until the evening.

Then James got It in his head that he wasn't going to go play in his room or the basement, he had to be in the room with us. And of course we were trying to quietly watch some TV. And really no amount of asking nicely, ordering, yelling would get him to leave us alone, it was really odd. And of course since he wouldn't leave Daniel and Emily stayed in there too, resulting in lots of noise etc. When I put them to bed I asked James why he was so disobedient and he really couldn't answer. I told him that he's the leader, that Daniel and Emily follow his lead, so if he is obnoxious and not listening, they will be the same. I think he understood.

The bike riding time was a learning experience, Kim had already taken off the training wheels so we tried that for a while. But James just wasn't ready. After working with him I realized he just doesn't have pedaling down to where it is second nature, so he has to work on that. Which means his mind is trying to focus on moving the pedals instead of balancing. So I put the training wheels back, but raised them so eha can't rely on them as much. Now he just needs to spend a lot more time riding before we take the training wheels off again.
