The Gonzo Way

The truth about Hunter S. Thompson

Sounds like an interesting book. I liked Hunter, even have his Gonzo symbol as a tattoo. While I grew tired of his style over the years, and may not have agreed with his politics entirely, I still like what he wrote. And I agree that while his style wasn't the easiest to read, it was never a question of the facts being wrong. He knew what he was talking about, even if I didn't always agree with his conlusions.

And it wasn't just politics, it was also sports, a subject he knew a lot about. One of my favorite stories about Hunter was that he actually once spent a 30 minute car ride with Richard Nixon, a man whose politics he hated, talking non-stop about football. I have always held that story as an example of how sports is a great common denominator in our culture.
