Dear James, Daniel and Emily,
It's been a good week, save for Tuesday. With the weather returning to more normal temps for this time of year I will hopefully be able to fight my out of the plateau I have been on this month. The most positive thing has been some new developments this week, one I actually stumbled onto last week and put into practice this week.
New discoveries
1. I was talking to a friend at work about stretching, and remembered that Dad had given me a book on stretching once upon a time. So I looked through my library and happily discovered that the book had survived my various purges. And found that among other things it contains a good 10-15 minute routine that I can follow daily. Which I promptly added to my schedule.
2. One day last week I had done my morning routine, and for some reason decided to eat after that, instead of my customary jump into the shower. And that actually resolved 2 niggling little things for me. First, by eating right away and then showering I find it easier to keep myself from just sitting and nibbling cereal to fill up time. Second, I know that it is better to eat and then brush my teeth rather than brushing before eating, and this resolves that long standing habit.
So here is what I hope to be my latest (revised) training schedule:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Mornings: Stretch (following routine in rediscovered book), Sit ups, Push ups, Knee bends (or air squats)
Lunch: Walk 15-25 minutes
Tuesday, Thursday
Mornings: Run per training schedule
Saturday, Sunday
Mornings: Run per training schedule, Stretch routine
This schedule should allow me to keep up with all the exercises, and see improvement in how long I run etc. Also, by exercising in some fashion every day I can have some calorie burn to offset the possibility of losing some will power in snacking.
