Dear James, Daniel and Emily,
Had a good weekend, lots of fun family time. James and I got a new game of Warzone started, but did not finish. Had a good time at Dillon's birthday party. Did some Sunday shopping (always a trial), but then had some fun with the kids at Lazerquest.Came home to relax, watch the Broncos, and got caught up on TV shows.
Miniatures
Didn't paint this weekend, but James and I did play. His focus left a little something to be desired, just need to point that out to him before we start the game again. Plus he has an annoying tendency to not move units, even when they are doing nothing. But we were having fun when we had to stop for timing. Hopefully we can start up where we left off on another night. Or this weekend. Now I just have to get my paints out again this week.
Family
It was a nice weekend for the family, pretty relaxing overall. We had a good time at the birthday party, I got to sit and watch lots of college football, then we played some games. The kids had a good time with their cousins. Sunday we took the kids out for a trip to LaserQuest, for a couple of games of Lasertag. which the boys enjoyed.
I struck a little more while the Iron was hot with James and watched the 300. Which was a little gory, and some scary parts for Daniel, but James really liked it. Then on Saturday we had a long talk about the Spartans and general military history. He is at the right age where I can enjoy teaching him all these things that I have soaked up through the years.
Football
Watched far more football than I planned to over the weekend, but it was fun, and I took it in stride. I was glad to see the Buffs rebound in the post-Hawkins era. And it was good to see the Broncos return to winning. In both cases I am not getting my hopes up for this to be a portent of things to come.
Training
So my new gloves worked quite well this weekend in general, and much better for my run this morning. My hands and the gloves were not soaking wet from sweat after my run. So the next step will be some long sleeve shirts, and then a new shell jacket. I don't know where this is all coming from, but as the saying goes 'no one ever regrets their workout, be it a morning run or whatever, they only regret not doing it' and that is a feeling I have become familiar with as I find it easier and easier to get up and run, and miss the workout the mornings I don't run.
