Dear James, Daniel and Emily,
I agree with a line I saw yesterday: "Every asshole who ever chanted 'Drill baby drill' should have to report to the Gulf coast today for cleanup duty" . Is this going to be what the next few years will be about? Facing and cleaning up from headache's, disasters and failures that were allowed to develop due to an Administration dedicated to lax regulation and reducing governmental 'intrusion' in the marketplace?
Just in the last couple of weeks you had the face of Wall Street anarchy, in the form of Goldman Sachs, have to face up to the reality of what they did. Prior to that there was the Coal Mine explosion, in an industry where the previous administrations policy towards enforcing regulation was as laissez-fiare as they could get away with. And now we are witnessing the ultimate worst case scenario as far as poor oversight, corporate greed and cover ups, coupled with the insanity of the'Drill, baby, Drill' mind set.
And yet we will still be bombarded with images of fringe elements calling the Obama administration 'Socialist' or 'Fascist' just because they want to reign in these renegade corporate elements, and protect the people of this country. Bottom line, I am far far more concerned with greedy corporations running out of control and destroying the environment, economy and ultimately human lives, than I am with a government that just wants to rein in those elements and do it's job of protecting citizens.
