Dear James, Daniel and Emily,
An excellent weekend overall. I had a good game Friday night. Had a nice time taking the kids to the library and park. And a relaxing afternoon. Sunday we got some cleaning done, particularly the grey van. Then a nice trip up to Denver to see Austin. More good news on that front. And back to a more normal schedule this week.
My game went very well Friday night. We had a good time and everyone seemed to enjoy what I had prepared. It meant I was a little tired Saturday morning but it was well worth it. And I needed the night to recharge my batteries with the impending week of house guests.
Saturday morning I had to come into work for a couple of hours, then went and picked up the kids. Took the boys to the library to get signed up for the summer reading program. Then took them all to America the Beautiful park. At first it was a little chilly so Emily had no interest in the cold spray from the fountain. But the boys had fun. We then went over to the playground for a while. The kids had a great time there, Emily wandered all over the place. Then it was back to the fountain, where Emily finally got brave enough to get in for a little while. It was nice, although the grass is non-existent, I really feel bad for that.
We cam home where we relaxed and basically did nothing. I made a nice little dinner and we got the kids to bed for a good nights rest. Sunday we cleaned up the van and packed up for a trip to Denver.
It was a nice drive, although a little exciting as we got to watch the tornado form up and come down well to the north of us, pretty amazing. There was a pretty big rain storm up there which meant we weren't able to go to the park as we had planned. But the kids got to run around in the play room of Ronald McDonald house for a while. Then we all went to lunch at Cici's. James got a good visit with Austin which I think helped things out. Then on the way home we accidentally ended up driving right past the area where that same tornado touched down. So we got to see all of the devastation. All of which was very good for James as it will help him to realize that while tornadoes are things to be wary of, they are not so bad that the fear should paralyze you.
So this week we have the 3 kids, although maybe just for tonight and Thursday night. We just got word that they may stop the treatment of Austin for now, and maybe let him come home tomorrow night. Which will be very good for everyone. Either way though the girls will be going to Boys and Girls club the rest of this week. So it was a good busy weekend, but not overly stressful for once. Looking forward to what should be a more normal week.
