Tired parents

Dear James, Daniel and Emily,

For whatever reason Emily has decided to go on a sleep strike. Up through mid last week she had been very good about just laying down when it was time, and going to sleep in her own room. But for the past week for whatever reason she has decided that she can't or won't do that any more. She can or will only go to sleep with me in the chair or in bed with one of us.

Last night was the worst, she just kept going until past 10 when she was half asleep and finally accepted me putting her in her own bed. I don't know what has started this behavior, but it is grinding me down. I can't just shut her in her room and let her scream until she gives up, since Kim has to go to sleep at the same time per her new schedule. Which means that my attempts at getting to bed earlier, or even thinking about doing anything other than just watching TV after Kim goes down are also right out the window.

All we can do at this point is try and survive and keep trying to get her to lay down, because anything else is not viable. Can't just let her scream since Kim needs her sleep. Letting her fall asleep in bed with Kim or me in my chair are also bad precedents. I just hope this phase doesn't last too long and we can get back to her laying down on her own again.
