I took my 8 year old son to see this movie on Sunday (courtesy of a present from his uncle Dave). We really enjoyed the movie. The story is a classic one of colonial goes 'native' and ends up siding with the natives. A classic story that has been used in multiple settings.

But it wasn't the story that captured my attention. What captured my attention and wonder was the technical achievments in the film. When you can have a movie filled with 10 foot tall aliens, flying steeds, floating mountains and it doesn't feel forced then something wonderful has been captured.

Watching this movie made me feel like any science fiction or fantasy story is now possible. The only limits are the will to make it and the script.

A lot of people have tried to view this movie through the lenses of politics. I can see how people inject that into this, but I really didn't feel that it detracted from the movie (although of course I generally approved of the message).

I would recommend this movie highly for fans of action and fans of science fiction. I do look forward to seeing it on a regular screen to see if the impact is the same.
