Dear James, Daniel and Emily
Last night we watched the season premieres of House M.D. and Heroes. House was good, and definitely has me interested in the season to come. However Heroes was definitely frustrating and did not exactly encourage me to keep my focus on the show this year.
Heroes Thoughts in Twitter form:
#Heroes Carnies? Could be interesting...
What a surprise, Sylar's fix didn't stick, oh and there's a lot of PTSD running around in #Heroes
OK so is Tracy more or less invincible now? Oh glad to see Denko gone, and watch out for the #Heroes Carnies...
WTF is up with Sylar/Nathan? Oh and if the Haitian is around why not use him on S/N?
I don't know what's creepier: Sylar messing with Matt or Claire's creepy 'friend'? #Heroes
Okay, my assessment of #Heroes? Boring and incoherent, episodes better improve...
Yeah, definitely underwhelmed, maybe we have a real villain this time, other than just recycling Sylar, but I kind of doubt it. I think they will definitely bring Sylar back in all his awesome nastiness. I just don't think their solution was truly a viable one. My biggest problem with the show at this point? It lacks any freshness, they have painted themselves into a corner by making Sylar effectively god-like, with no chance for actual redemption as a good guy. And once you do that everything else becomes moot. I think they would be better off letting the oft-hinted at Apocalypse occur, then focus on the remaining characters actually getting to be open about their powers and try to fight, that is where I hoped last season was going, then it fizzled.
Tonight we are looking forward to the return of NCIS, and it's new clone. One thing I have noticed, I am seriously spoiled by the quality of Mad Men, Saving Grace, The Closer and Burn Notice, and Leverage to some extent. The regular network shows are beginning to pale in comparison. And of course I have to wait until January for Friday Night Lights. We'll see if any new show grabs our focus like Mentalist did last year.
